What you need to do

- Show how to handle kitchen utensils safely. These should include knives and scissors
- Show and explain how to be safe in the kitchen
- Explain the basics of food hygiene
- Choose and do two of the following
- Make breakfast for three or four other people that includes two of these dishes
- Toast with jam or marmalade
- A dish using eggs
- A simple cooked breakfast, such as beans on toast
- Porridge
- A muesli mix you have created
- Tea or coffee
- Freshly squeezed fruit juice
- Any other dish you usually eat for breakfast
- Make a healthy dish showing you can prepare fresh fruits, vegetables or salad. Arrange it in an appetising way.
- Bake and decorate biscuits, cakes or scones. Share them with other Brownies
- Make a simple lunch snack for yourself and someone else
- Wash up and clear away after a meal

For the Cook Advanced badge you do not have to have the Cook badge first.

- Explain the basics of food hygiene and how to store foods correctly
- Prepare a simple two-course meal: one course must be cooked
- Either
Make a poster for your meeting place, school or Brownie holiday that illustrates one of the following
- Food allergies
- Healthy eating
- The different food groups
- The countries that different foods come from
Or
Make a collection of the recipes you have most enjoyed trying. Make sure your collection includes savoury and sweet dishes
- Show how to do two of the following
- Use a dishwasher
- Clean and care for non-stick cookware
- Wash up in the correct order
- Clean a microwave
- Clean a fridge
- Do one of the following
- Prepare a traditional dish from another country
- Plan and prepare the food for a Rainbow party or children's birthday party
- Prepare a dish using an ingredient you've never used before
- With an adult you know, cook a meal outdoors on a stove or barbecue
